Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arseniy Yatsenyuk visits Poland

“The purpose of my visit to Warsaw is to establish priorities on further expansion and strengthening of our strategic partnership with Poland” stated the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine during his official visit to Warsaw.

Mr. Yatsenyuk and Mrs. Fotyga, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland, discussed economic cooperation, in addition to the need to resume economic forums and bilateral regional cooperation institutions as well as issues related to the preparation for the joint hosting of the European Football Championship in 2012. In this context, Mr. Yatsenyuk took the initiative on a bilateral agreement which would regulate the preparation for hosting this event as well as the necessity for establishing a joint organizational committee and the development of an appropriate action plan.

During the course of this meeting, the ministers paid special attention on the need for Poland to support Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic intentions. In particular, they discussed the visa policy and its simplification for Ukrainian citizens. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland, in her turn, confirmed their willingness to support this liberalized approach to Ukraine related to visa policy on the part of the EU.
