EU outlines final requirement for Ukraine’s entry into the WTO

The European Union outlined its last requirement for Ukraine’s entry into the World Trade Organization. In order to become the 152nd member of the WTO, Ukraine must satisfy Brussels’ requirement of revising the regulations on export duties. The meeting of the working group, where Ukraine will present its report on WTO entry, is planned to take place in Geneva.

Moreover, experts from Geneva believe that Ukraine is likely to enter into the WTO sooner than Russia. “We are in very regular contact with Ukraine to resolve the remaining bilateral issues of export duties. This issue is very important to us and must be agreed on before the entry process is completed”, stated Peter Power, a spokesman for EU Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson.
