The 4th annual summit - Yalta European Strategy (YES)
The annual "Yalta European Strategy" Summit is the largest and the most influential Ukrainian-European high-level informal forum attended by politicians, public figures and diplomats from Great Britain, USA, France, Germany, Poland, Russia and other countries. This year, guests of the 4th annual summit were the 42nd US President of the USA, William Jefferson Clinton, Federal Chancellor of Germany (1998-2005), Gerhard Schroeder and the President of Poland (1995-2005), Alexander Kwasniewski.The 4th annual YES summit was focused on discussing today's relations between Ukraine and the European Union as well as Ukraine's prospects for accession into the EU, prospects for an economic turnaround in Ukraine vis a vis hosting the EURO-2012 Cup, improvements in the investment climate, security of energy supply, commercial and economic relations between Ukraine and EU and the current political situation in Ukraine.
The summit started off as a traditional conference in one of the Kyiv’s hotels "Premier Palace". The second two days of the summit were held in Livadia Palace (Big Yalta, ARK). There were plenary and round table sessions dedicated to enhancing the rule of law and reforms of the judicial system as well as security of energy supply and the establishment of a free trade zone between Ukraine and EU.
YES is an independent organization, which brings together high-level participants from Ukraine, and internationally: policy-makers, business leaders, intellectuals, researchers and journalists.
The YES Board includes authoritative public and political figures from Europe – Dr. Mario David - Member of Parliament, Portugal; Alexandr Kwasniewski - former President of Poland; Founder of YES, Victor Pinchuk; Marek Siwiec – Vice-President of the European Parliament; Alexander Rahr –German Council on Foreign Relations; Jean-Pierre Saltiel – former President (Rothschild Conseil International); Stéphane Fouks – CEO of French agency Euro RSCG Worldwide; Rt. Hon. Stephen Byers - Member of Parliament, UK and Chairman of the Board of YES.
