The European Parliament announces date for Ukraine’s entry into the EU
The Vice President of the European Parliament, Marek Siwiec announced a realistic date of 2020 for Ukraine’s entry into the European Union and at the same time, believed that this term could be shortened. “The announcement of this date last year was rather provocative. Therefore, it was impossible to discuss Ukraine’s membership in the EU without indicating a realistic date. Thus, last year I asked the international observers to develop a favourable scenario for Ukraine. They came back with this particular date, which is appropriate. However, it did not resonate with people …but I began to notice that some people consider this term to be realistic. So did I”, said Marek Siwiec.
Moreover, he stated that this term could be shortened. “Judging from my experience, I see that the Euro integration process at times becomes politicized. We can change the conditions for expansion and Ukraine should be prepared for it”.
